What to look for in Leadership Training?

leadership-training

I’ve been researching on leadership for a long time and I started to think about what would I include in a leadership training course? If I was going to take any course on leadership I would look forward to see at least these four areas:

  1. Presentation Skill Training: This is a key skill for every leader. Leaders need to communicate their ideas and vision to their followers, group, team, coworkers.
  2. Team Building Training: This is one of the key areas in leadership. Team Building is a must for every leader. Leaders should know to ensemble strong, confident teams in their companies. Remember that great leaders achieve big things with their teams.
  3. Negotiation Skills Training: When leaders are faced with big issues, usually they have to negotiate the use of their resources. Most of the time, leaders represent the interest of groups, and
as such they need to balance the group needs with the organization needs. A strong basis in Business Negotiation is then a must for the leader.

  4. Motivational Skills Training: A leader has to know how to motivate people, how to move people to do things. I’m not talking about cheap tricks, I’m talking about building rapport with people, getting in their hearts.

Do you agree with that? What would you include?
What are the areas you need to get better at?

Be Alert, Be A Leader :)

Dear Sir/Madam

I agreed what you mentioned in your article, but I would like to include another area that leader should have is management skills. I would like to be better on negotiation and presentation skills .

If you have more documents related to these areas, it will be helpful for me.

Best regards.

i quite agree with you, Ken, but I also think a leader should be empathetic; if you put yourself in the shoes of your surbodinates, subjects or team members, you will be able to get into their hearts, and that, I so much believe, will get your organisation going.

Thank you Panha and Chuks, I’m adding to my personal list the
two areas you’ve mentioned: Management and Empathy. They’re certainly very important also in every leader’s “toolbox” of skills.

I’m Glad you liked the post.

Quite an exhaustive list of skills required for leadership training . I would like to add just three more skills in it .
1 Selling Skills
2 Coaching and Counselling Skills
3 Decision Making Skills

Good Ideals. BUT remember Alertness and Awareness must be focused prime. In Rome do as Romans Do and outside Rome as they Do. Choose Different Horses for Different Courses…………………………. and Be Leader anywhere
