If you’re a tennis fan, you’ll know by now that yesterday Roger Federer won his 15th Grand Slam title, and became the #1 player in the world again. When you see him playing you get impressed by how “natural” the strokes are for him and the flow of his game. I’m 100 percent sure Roger Federer knows exactly why he’s playing tennis, and he’s been preparing all his life to moments like the one he lived yesterday.
We all know that Federer, like all top players in every sport, is the consequence of perseverance and clear goals in their minds. Is he a human being? I bet he is, he’s not a machine. He’s totally connected with his inner self. And the wonderful thing about it to me, is that he is the clear proof that we can achieve all that we set in our minds with work, plans and goals. It’s focus and the will to achieve, to persevere.
I’m saying, set your goals, know exactly why do you want those goals (have a clear purpose to achieve them), build plan to achieve them and then start. Yes, move ahead.
Before Federer, you have so many examples in the world of tennis: Agassi, Sampras, Becker, Graf, Selles, Connors, McEnroe, Bjork, Navratilova, Laver, Ashe, Lendl, and so many others. If you move out of the tennis world, you can go behind the lives of every great athlete and you will find a lot of sacrifice, huge amounts of work, and undeniable clear and specific goals. Great leaders are no exception.
Don’t you see it? Every time we are witnesses of great achievements, we are in front of a life of great commitment and total dedication to one purpose.
To me, the Take Home lessons from great achievers:
1. Have clear goals in your mind
2. Have plans to achieve them.
3. Work according to your plans and Never ever give up.
4. Keep moving, don’t stop.
5. Be Generous… share. Be kind.
