The Thing With Ideas
When was the last time you had a “wonderful idea” or a “good idea” at least, this morning? yesterday? a week ago? I bet you have many ideas, some of them not so wonderful or good, but you do have lots of ideas. On the other hand, if I ask you: “When was the last time you took action to put that idea in motion?” you’d probably respond with “not so often”.
Fact is, we do have many ideas, and most of the time we think of them like dreams or just visions like “what would it be if…” but the important thing to remember is ideas are just that, images, visions, sounds and tastes that live in our minds until we make the decision to make them true.
Your Self Image
Leadership has to do with your self image, you can not lead, if you don’t see yourself as a leader. We can not become the leaders we want if we don’t have a clear idea of what kind of leader we do want to become. Am I talking about vision here? Yes!! But your vision, your own personal vision of who you want to be. Listen, or better yet, read this:
“Your self image determines what you are and how you perform”.
The Mix
The action you take on your ideas, have a lot to do with your self image, if you think of yourself as someone who can come up with good solutions you’ll bring out more ideas to the table, and you will try to take action on them. On the other hand, if you don’t have a good self image, you won’t be open to share your ideas, nor to take action on them.
Remember, leadership has more to do with attitude than position, so to lead you have to be bold. Yeah! bold, but no arrogancy allowed here, boldness as a virtue. One good way to foster your boldness is to share your ideas, and to take action on them.
Leadership Actions
1. Be Bold, share ideas with the people you trust. And be open to feedback, good and not so good feedback.
2. Be open to hear their ideas as well. That’s the attitude of great people.
3. See?, you’re leading now. You’ve started the idea club with people you trust.
4. Decide what idea is good enough to take action, and jump on it.
5. Keep moving my friend.

Lets me add a few things about self image : There are five types of self images 1. What i think and feel about myself 2. What i wish to be seen by others 3. What others think about me 4. What i think that others think about me 5 What truly i am ie that can be measured scientifically through psychological and physical tests.
IDEAS are like rabbits –they come and go away quickly –the best way to get hold of them is writing them down INSTANTLY whenever and where ever they come .
Of course, ideas play a leading role in our life: they remind us that we’re still in the action of doing smth, or our mind is trying to do its best by giving some hints to further development.
Syed, thanks for the points on self image and the advice to “trap” the rabbits (ideas) of your mind in paper.

I think that the key thing with ideas is dare to share, share them even though they don’t seem good, you’re giving yourself and others the chance to build upon different points of view.
