6 Tips To Keep Attention While You Are Presenting.

In his fantastic book “How to Run Seminars & Workshops”, Robert L. Jolles, gives us 25 tips on Maintaining Interest in a presentation. I’ve pickep up only six. These ones are the most relevant to all kind of presentations and not only to Seminars or Workshops

  1. Use Your Voice Effectively: It’s not the way your voice sounds, it’s the mood, tone and the way you say the things.
  2. Tell Anecdotes: Any story that relates to the topic of your presentation can keep adult interested in your presentation. Stories have a two side effect, they help to grab attention from the audience and give the presentar a relaxing time.
  3. Keep Moving While You Talk:Every time you’re talking to an audience and you move freely while talking, you communicate a sense of comfort with the subject matter, you transmit credibility and of course you create interest.
  4. Vary The Pace of The Presentation: Your brain can handle up to 325 words per minute, although most of us don’t speak faster than 170. So varying the pace at which you speak can keep the attention of your audience.
  5. Show a Sense of Humor: Sense of humor it’s ok, as long as it is “natural”. Just don’t overdo it.
  6. Show Enthusiasm: No matter the subject, if you don’t show enthusiasm on the subject you’re presenting, then it’s difficult for your audience to feel relaxed enough to learn a new matter.

Robert Jolles, has been giving presentations for more than 25 years and as such, he really knows what he’s saying. .
