The 360° Leader

I went to the bookstore last monday and I’ve picked up “The 360° Leader”. A book by, John C. Maxwell, who has written more than 40 books so far. At first, I wasn’t really excited about the book, but after a while I started to skim through pages and found myself not being able to put the book down. Needless to say I bought the book, and I’m right on my way to finish reading it.

I will write a couple of articles dealing with the things the book says and of course I will give you some hints and insights. More on that, next week.

In most organizations the people feels that they are only “employees” and/or  ”followers”, but the book clearly explains that we all can lead, and specially the “mid level” employees. You don’t need the position, but the attitude.  You can lead your colleagues, your boss, your boss’ colleagues, and your subordinates and of course your subordinates colleagues.

The book starts explaining the myths people have about Leadership and why they think they can’t lead from mid-level positions. After that, follows a list of seven challenges that the “mid-level” leader has to face in order to become a 360° Leader. Finally, it explains how to approach your boss, your colleagues and subordinates and become a 360° Leader.

I’m sure a lot of people will get something valuable out of this book. To me at least has become a recommended reading and in my road to become a leader, this book surely is a great contribution.

By the way, here’s the link to the book if you want to take a deeper look and read some advice in Amazon’s website:
