A Team’s Success Factors
by Ken Valenzuela, BeALeader.Net's Chief Editor

A leader has a lot to say when it comes to team’s success. In the last 3-minute tip post I’ve talked about the successful team. Now I’m showing the seven factors that the leader has to observe in order to lead to success in a team.
- Setting Clear Goals:Goals are specific, measurable , and all members are committed to accomplishing them. The goals are the main purpose of the team.
- Identification of talent:The leader needs to have a clear understanding about the talents that exists within the team.
- Well Defined Roles: Team members know their roles and the ones of their peers, this is essential to team success.
- Well Defined Processes:Every action the team performs, meetings, decisions, and new developments is well defined and agreed by all members in the team. There’s a “protocol” formal or informal, but a well defined process to do everything.
- Respect among members:No matter what differences the members of the team, everyone respects each other. The conflicts are managed and resolved with respect.
- Team Sense: The actions of the team members are such that nurture the team sense.
- Good external relationships: There are good relationships with external entities, “stakeholders”, other teams, and management.
Taking these seven factors as a reference chart, and constantly reviewing them it’s one of the main task a leader has in order to ensure the team’s success.
LEADERSHIP ACTIONS
- Make yourself a chart with all the seven factors that a leadership team should observe in order to be successful.
- Grade each item from 1 To 5 (poor to excellent).
- If there’s any item below “3″ work with your team to improve it.
Always Be Alert, Be A Leader.
